(Measure passed House, amended) Exempts from the provisions of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935 (except for certain securities acquisition restrictions) any public utility holding company that has only one subsidiary which is a gas utility company, if: (1) such subsidiary was incorporated on June 16, 1986, for the express purpose of operating as a gas utility company, the subsidiary's voting securities are all owned by the holding company, and its operations do not extend beyond the State in which it is organized; and (2) neither the holding company nor any of its subsidiaries are either a public utility company or engaged in residential or commercial plumbing, heating, refrigeration, air-conditioning, or in the sale, installation, or servicing of such or related equipment.
